Fall out between the makers of Udta Punjab

In the wake of Censorship Demands on the removal of 'Punjab' from the film title, and deletion of any reference to the state of Punjab , thus forcing it to find base on a fictitious land, Phantom Films and Balaji Motion Picture are bearing the brunt of it all.

The two film houses are at logger heads as their ideologies differ from one another. While, Balaji Motion Pictures is okay to go ahead with the 80+ cuts, reluctant film-maker, Anurag Kashyap wants to retain the essence of his film.

A lot of re-shoot may have to be done if the Censor Board has its way in addition to an extended Marketing Budget, if the film is pushed for a later release.

According to sources, Balaji Motion Pictures may quit the project all together.

Let's wait to see if the film finds justice or will need to bend down to the stringent rules laid by the censor board.

In the US, however, films are segregated on the basis of age, thus making the consumption optional.
In the UK too, any reference to a political party, leader or reality is passed without holding offense.

Anurag has taken to Twitter to show his displeasure and his actors too support his stance. Many eminent personalities of filmdom too are  extending their support in favor of Udta Punjab.
