Here's why Karan Johar finds Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham silly! 

The nation fell in love with this new coming of age Romantic Drama which featured the protagonist in two important relationships, when one fell apart , the other turned out to be a life long marital commitment. However, under unforeseen circumstances Rahul's wife died while giving birth to their kid and left behind 8 letters for her daughter, which Rahul promised to provide his daughter on every birthday in the coming 8 years. 

Now Karan Johar thinks, what would have been written in the previous 7 letters, when only the 8th one was revealed to us. How would an infant or a toddler read / understand. The main protagonist goes by the belief 'Pyaar Ek Baar Hota Hai, Aur Shaadi Bhi Ek Hi Baar Hoti Hai', yet he goes against it. There was certainly a disconnect, but Karan Johar was lucky to sail through the ambiguity as his film was written with heart. 

When he looks back, he feels how could he have written films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, with all those family / complex relationship thoughts in mind. 

We are glad times are changing and can't wait for Ae Dil Hain Mushkil to release.
