1.       Chalk N Duster’s concept was decided over a cup of coffee. Director, Jayant Gilator was candidly expressing his views on the current state of Education with Mr. Amin Surani and how it is run like

a business. Amin could not agree more and decided to turn this into his film’s plot.

2.       The production company, Surani Pictures is making its debut with Chalk N Duster and moving on too, they would like to make meaningful and topical films. Interestingly, Sony Pictures Entertainment has taken rights of the film’s distribution.

3.       Juhi Chawla convinced Shabana Azmi to take up with role of a senior mathematics teacher. Interestingly, Shabana Azmi has compared Chalk N Duster to Dum Lage Ke Haisha as she feels the audience will be left on a very positive note as a take away from the film

4.       Divya Dutta will be seen in a negative role as the school’s principal, who believes in commercialization of the system, instead of imparting quality education

5.       We save the best for last, Rishi Kapoor will be seen in a special cameo and will leave us with an impactful climax to the film.

      Queen is a film that truly celebrated the spirit of womanhood. How the protagonist comes out of her shell and explores different sides to her personality among people of different origin is encapsulated in this bright and cheery poster of Queen. 

            Gunday
 We love the cluttered look of the poster, just how they used to make them in the 70s. Gunday has used all of its USP’s under one poster design and rocked it.

            Love, Sex aur Dhoka
 We love the voyeuristic backdrop of being watched by an eye, also an alternate representation    of a webcam. The intimacy is simplistic and sums up the film title rather well.

Tanu Weds Manu 

One of our favorite wedding poster's has to be the Tanu Weds Manu look without a doubt. Love seems to be pouring all over its visuals. We must congratulate the choice of colors and tonality that provide a celebratory feel 

Wazir 

An extremely different poster for a different film. When chess plays a witness to the entire plot, you need to add it to the visuals. We must take notice of this amazing composition chosen for Wazir

Valentine's Release - Fitoor & Sanam Re 

It’s the season to fall in love! Embrace your partner tight and set your mood for romance with two Valentines releases Fitoor and Sanam Re.

Fitoor

Fitoor is an adaptation of Charles Dickens book, Great Expectations. It is based on star crossed lovers Noor ( Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Firdaus ( Katrina Kaif) who love each other deeply, a bond which began from their childhood.  However, Begum Hazrat ( Tabu) refuses to accept an ordinary boy like Noor and creates many conflicts in their love story. Come to witness two beautiful characters in love, who are separated by destiny and whether they stand against odds or give in to conditions.  Shot in some breath-taking landscapes of Kashmir, Poland and Delhi, Fitoor loosely reminds us of the beautifully surreal Fanaah

Sanam Re

Sanam Re is directed by Divya Khosla Kumar of the Yaariyan Fame. She has kept the soul of the film alive with melodious music which weave into the film’s narrative aptly. Akash ( Pulkit Samrat) and  Shruti (Yami Gautam) share a special friendship as kids. Rishi Kapoor is seen as an 80 year old grandpa who mentors his grandson and teaches him about the importance of love. As the characters grow up, they unite temporarily only to separate from each other. Urvashi Rautela, will be seen as Pulkit’s girlfriend and confidant. The trio have a complex love triangle. Bhindi Bazaar Inc.

Shot in the by lanes of Bhindi Bazaar, this gangster film deals with two opposing groups who pick pockets. The film didn’t do well at the box office but despite that, had an interesting title, especially

with the inclusion of .inc making the groups seem like companies. We acknowledge your difference.

       Ishaqzaade –

A tragic love story titled Ishaqzaade to define the passion between the lovers, Parineeti Chopra & Arjun Kapoor. We like the inspiration from a certain cuss work, which was notably used in songs as well dialogues.  Similar titles in the likes of Mastizaade are doing the rounds too.

 Masaan –

The title is derived from the Sanskrit word Shmashaan. The film revolves around a character who burns corpse for a living and hence, the suited title. The film went onto win many hearts and did well overseas as well. Kudos to the brave film-makers who come up with unique concepts and even more unique titles

      P.K-

Just two initials to a film was a risky title to have. Nevertheless, the film did wonders as it built curiosity among viewers to know who is P.K . In some of the dialogues we get to know that people are referring to him as drunk and hence, calling him P.K.  A good attempt to stand out from the clutter of  same type of film names.

 Peepli (LIVE) –  

A story about a poor farmer Natha, residing in Peepli, plans to commit suicide so his family would be well compensated is overheard by a media reporter and the whole situation goes LIVE on TV. Hence, the name Peepli LIVE. The film has a satirical approach on Media, Politics shown using the conditions of Indian Farmers. An apt and heart winning title.

 English Vinglish –

We love the rhyming approach to this new age film. A woman who is trying to ace her English language in order to find respect within her family and her efforts towards it are heart-warming. What a lovely title!

      3 Idiots –

We love the numeric touch to the title and the young care-free attitude of undergraduate engineers captured in the idiots. This one will always be a classic film.

      Ragini MMS –

At a time when MMS’s were doing the rounds, Ekta Kapoor thought of merging technology with her lead character’s name. This was bundled with Horror and Erotica. A smart title we’d say, it paved the way for unique marketing as well.

      DEV.D- 

A cooler shorter version for Devdas, Dev D was indeed a unique title. The lead was made to look like a brat who is brash in love and ends up in a hit and run case. Current affairs merged with a classic love story made this film a win!

 The Dirty Picture

We love how bold the title sounds. A film made on South Indian Film Industry and the struggles of an actress, from being exploited to going bankrupt. We congratulate the team on the selection of a great title. 

Wazir Movie Review

Here’s welcoming the very first release of 2016, Wazir. An emotional thriller which revolves around the game of chess. Each move is planned and played.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar & Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. While, Neil Nitin Mukesh plays the title role of Wazir and John Abraham is seen in a special cameo

Plot Summary

Danish Ali ( Farhan Akhtar) works for the Anti-Squad Terrorist team.  He visits the Welfare Minister’s house for some official work, where he is accompanied by his daughter. Unexpectedly, terrorists strike and happen to kill his daughter. Aditi Rao Hydari , his wife, blames her husband for the loss of their child. Danish is expelled from service, for he catches the terrorist alive, opposing the operation mission. Meanwhile, the couple get distant with time. Danish has a chance encounter with Panditji (Amitabh Bachchan) at a graveyard. They gradually become friends and bond over the game of chess. Panditji confides in Danish about his deadly accident and death of his wife. He is bound to a wheelchair as he has lost both his legs. They discuss personal matters, Panditji suggests that Danish inquire about his daughter’s death, which is made to appear as if it happened due to her falling off a staircase but Panditji feels there could be more to it. He is suspicious of the Wealth Minister. Although the case has been closed by the police, Danish uses his resources to investigate the matter.  As the investigation is mid-way, Panditji is attacked by Wazir ( Neil Nitin Mukhesh) for his possible connection to the Minister. Danish comes to his friend's rescue. What happens to their friendship and whether he is able to avenge his daughter’s death forms the crux of the story.

Festival Films of 2016

Watching a film is no less than a celebration. Audiences flock to the theatres during festive times to watch their favorite film and the whole experience becomes celebratory with an extended holiday.

Filmmakers too bank upon holidays to earn more revenue from their productions. Hence, it is a win-win situation for both viewers as well as makers.

     RAEES

Excel Entertainment’s crime thriller Raees will be releasing on 8^th of July’16 during the eid festival, posing to be the biggest treat for SRK fans.  The film will mark the debut of Pakistani Heroine Mahira Khan in Bollywood and have the talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a significant role. The film’s first schedule is shot and the makers are gearing towards its completion. Red Chillies Entertainment shall be co-producing the film. Set in the 1980s the film is directed by Rahul Dholakia from Lamhaa fame.

      AIRLIFT

      The Akshay Kumar starrer , Airlift, is sure to bring out the patriot in us this Republic Week with a 22^nd Jan’16 release. The film also features Nimrat Kaur in a prominent role. The story takes us back to 1990’s when Kuwait was invaded by Iraq and how a certain influential man fell to its trap along with 1,70,000 Indians. We can’t wait to witness history again.

SULTAN 

Interestingly, Sultan that has Salman Khan in the lead role will also release on the same day as Raees. Salman Khan will be seen essaying the role of a wrestler in this highly awaited Sports Drama. Randeep Hooda will feature as his coach while the female lead is yet to be finalized. The film will be made by Ali Abbas Zafar under the Yash Raj Films banner.

     GREAT GRAND MASTI

      Also known as Masti 3, this installment starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani in lead roles shall be funnier than the previous parts. The film’s last schedule is being shot and soon will be open to promotions. Urvashi Rautela, will be playing the female lead.  Balaji Motion Pictures to make our Good Friday a Great Friday by releasing Great Grand Masti on 24^th March, 2016

    

     AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL 

Touted to be a mature love story, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan & Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. Interestingly, ace film-maker Karan Johar makes great films on relationships and this one is no exception. The film will be a Diwali Release on 28^th October, 2016  

 

     MOHENJO DARO 

 

Hritihik Roshan has devoted his energies to shoot for his upcoming period romance film, Mohenjo Daro. Based on the Indus Valley Civilization as seen from Mr. Ashutosh Gowarikar vision, this film is riding high on expectations.  Former Miss India Pooja Hegde will be seen as Hrithik’s ladylove. The film is set to release in the Independence Weekend on 12^th August, 2015

DANGAL 

Aamir Khan considers Christmas to be very lucky for him as tested with the success of Ghajini & Dhoom 3. The superstar comes back in 2016 with his highly awaited film Dangal, where he will be seen as a wrestler who ages over 20-30 years. For the same, Aamir has undergone aggressive weight gain and loss to be able to portray both young and old characters. Interestingly, Sakshi Tanwar will be seen as his heroine. Disney shall back the film under the direction of Nitish Tiwari.

 1. Deepika turns 30 

The gorgeous woman has entered the milestone number and we are sure she will still manage to look 25 years of age.  Deepika, has been active in the industry since 2007, ever since the release of her debut film Om Shanti Om.  Her next  untitled film is most likely to be opposite superstar Hrithik Roshan for Yash Raj Films.

       2.  Deepika has performed Double-Roles twice in her career

                Not many know this but as a fresher, Deepika has taken the challenge to do double roles in not one, but two of her films – Om Shanti Om and Chandni Chowk to China respectively. To be able to pull off diverse characters at such an early stage of her career was surely commendable

Deepika takes complete responsibility for her role and the project she is associating with. She has had the task of portraying Title Roles in Piku, Bajirao Mastani & Ramleela and has beaten her own performance record each time.

Worst Films of 2015 

After picking the best films of 2015, let’s look at the other side of the coin. There were some films which were certainly good in parts but in totality failed to impress the movie goers.

Let us know in the comments if you walked out of a film, regretted buying a ticket to any of the films from below.

Katti Batti

The title was unique and the star cast good. Even the marketing of the film was pulled out well. Apparently, Katti Batti was inspired by a few Hollywood flicks but failed miserably in its Indianized version. We see the load of the entire film on Imran Khan’s shoulder while Kangana gets little scope to show her talent. It turns out to be a very confused romantic story with a tragic cum happy end.  The duo really try to salvage the film, but their efforts go in vain, owing to a poorly written script.  Songs alone did pull us to the theater. All in all, hard luck!

Mr. X
 

The entertainment is invisible much like its lead star in the film. A very average plot sets the tone of the film with Emraan Hashmi seen as an Anti – Terrorist agent, who is trapped into killing the Chief Minister by his senior ACP Arunoday Singh, looking for a desperate promotion. The result burns Emraan into flames.  Thereafter, a sci-fi experiment helps the lead to turn invisible and plot a revenge. Not much can be said about new actress Amyra Dastur. The only saving grace are the songs.  Comparatively, Gayab of Tusshar Kapoor fame comes to mind.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon

The endless wait for a good laugh remains throughout the film. A disappointing narrative centered around weak performers, mainly with misogynist wife jokes and unreal logic.

Kapil Sharma does somewhat well with his act but the film fails to entertain.  Better luck next time, we’d say.

 Roy
 

Looking for boredom, embrace Roy. It is a procrastinated effort in story-telling. You will be left to figure out what you saw.  Arjun Rampal, is apparently facing a writer’s block as a film-maker and trying to find inspiration in Jacqueline’s character. What is real , what is make-believe no can say even after the end credits roll on the film. 

Bombay Velvet

An ambitious project which was dismissed by the audience. Bombay Velvet had a disastrous run at the box office.  Balraj ( Ranbir Kapoor) wants to be a big shot as he sees his love, Rosie ( Anushka Sharma) hanging out with wealthy men. He takes help of Khambata ( Karan Johar) a media veteran to run illegal activities in the real estate sector. Events turn for the worse, when Khambata and Johnny ( nickname of Balraj) turn foes owing to the acquisition of a  minister’s dirty picture and betrayal by his lady love Rosie.

Bombay Velvet’s sets impress but the plot becomes too predictable and slow paced.

Shaandaar

Two insomniacs and a dream destination wedding  do not provide much to save a  well marketed ‘Shaandaar.’ The romance is missing, references to a fairy tale life seem unreal.

A wedding is arranged for one family to benefit financially while a real love blossoms between the bride’s sister ( Alia Bhatt) and the wedding planner JJ ( Shahid Kapoor).

Taking potshots at heavy duty weddings is all Shandaar offers. Not entirely warm. This one doesn’t give back much to the audience

So with this we’ll end 2015 and look forward to a great run of films in 2016. 

Mastizaade & Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3
 

Tusshar Kapoor & Aftab Shivdasani are back with their favorite and most successful genre of Adult Comedy.  They’re starting the year with a big BANG!

This time they will be essaying Porn Stars, alongside Mandana Karimi of Bigg Boss 9 fame. Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 is positioned as India’s first Porn Com film. It’s trailer was played on 40 odd porn websites as part of their promotional campaign. 

Here’s a bit about the film.

Tusshar Kapoor falls for the pretty Mandana in the film and in order to win her love he has to persuade her daddy dearest to give consent to their relationship.   For this, he gets his Porn Co-stars to look like his family. What follows is a series of hilarious situations around the family’s encounter with real life porn artistes in the guise of siblings. 

On the other hand, we have Mastizaade.  This will be Sunny Leone’s first attempt at Comedy along with seasoned Tusshar & Vir. The fans can expect a double treat as Sunny is seen in a twin role.  And as far as the story goes, it is centered around a LELE casino managed by Ritesh Deshmukh, seen in a cameo role. ‘Sikka Hilega’ was an apt tagline which suited the plot line as well as took care of innuendos in the film.

As quoted by Milap Zaveri, “When Sunny Leone heard the script, she had no reservations. In fact, I have exploited the boys more than her.”

Let's wait to see how the two perform at the Box Office! Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3 to come out on Jan 2nd while Mastizaade will follow steps on Jan 29th.

We have set our eyes on Airlift on Jan 22^nd, to be one of the biggest films of 2016.  Airlift cannot be bracketed in any genre, the film being inspired by true events of our nation.

Akshay Kumar breaks the cliché mold yet again with a patriotic mainstream film with a message to sensitize our nation towards the victims of the Kuwait war and fill them up with national pride.

• 1    This story dates back to 1990, when India airlifted 1,70,000 Indians amid the attack on Kuwait by Iraq.  Iraq invaded Kuwait for stealing its petroleum through slant drilling.

• 3.       Air India & Indian Airlines came in support of 1,70,000 Indians with around 488 flights arranged for the biggest human evacuation

Best Films of 2015 by B4U

The year of 2015 has seen a great line up of films. It’s been a treat for movie buffs who have spent their time watching some of the remarkable movies on celluloid. Now as we gear up to celebrate the New Year and welcome new films with all our love. Let’s take a look at some of the best films of 2015 by B4U.

Baby

Akshay Kumar starrer Baby has been a landmark film of 2015. It had all ingredients of a good story, good characters, loosely inspired by national affairs. Akshay Kumar, as seen portraying a secret agent for team Baby counters terrorism and prevents attacks with the support of his intelligence team. It is a film which made us proud of several such systems who counter adversary while making us feel extremely patriotic.

PIKU

Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan Khan & Deepika Padukone starrer PIKU was absolute magic. It rode high on the emotional quotient and struck a chord with families. Dealing with the situation of Constipation in a comical way, putting the core relation of Deepika & Amitabh at the center of the plot, while Irrfan gets beautifully tangled to it. We wish more films on Health and Families are made in the future.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha

A cute couple, where the lady is fat while the man is slim opt for an arranged marriage and wed each other. All hell breaks loose when problems of appearance start irking the husband, Ayushmann Khurrana. The levels of frustration rise in their marriage when Ayushmann expresses embarrassment for being seen with his new wife, Bhumi Pednekar. The duo fall in love during Dum Laga Ke Haisha, a local competition of carrying your partner on your back till the finish line. This simply told love story just stole our hearts.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Known to be Salman Khan’s best film so far. Bajrani Bhaijaan is a lovable film showing the bond between a young Pakistani mute girl, Harshaali Malhotra and a Hindu Man of India, who unite to find the little one’s lost family. Events turn around as they need to cross the Indo-Pak border, which they do with an unofficial consent of Pakistani soldiers. The story shows their deep affection for each other on their journey home. Chand Nawab aka Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a Pakistani TV Correspondent shields them from the local police, helping them to reach their destination. All in all, it’s a film to remember for a lifetime.

Dil Dhadakne Do

Clearly stating, ‘Do as your Heart wishes to’ Dil Dhadakne Do is a good family drama made for the masses. It deals with strained familial relationships of older and younger generations alike, while regaining the lost love among them all. Told from the perspective of a pet dog, this one is a pure attempt at film-making

Bajirao Mastani

Though fictional in bits and parts, as mentioned by the ace film maker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bajirao Mastani is one his best films rendered to the public. Ranveer as the warrior, Deepika as the madly in love Mastani and Priyanka as Kashibai as a strong lady who’s sacrificial act impresses viewers. The history is well visited and a tragic love story recreated to relate to all broken hearts. The socio-religious angles played up for perfect dramatization make Bajirao Mastani, one of the best films of the year
