Huge Hits that Shahrukh Khan rejected to be a part of!

Shahrukh’s 2.5 decade long career has mostly seen massive hits as he provides wholesome entertainers which appeal to the global masses. His work and determination has undoubtedly led him to a position where he seems indispensable / irreplaceable. But here are some films which the king Khan denied to do.

Rang De Basanti 

Rakesh Omprakash Mehra  had first approached Shahrukh Khan to play the lead character of DJ, a college goer who has strong national opinion and gets involved in a freedom struggle for justice for his friend. Unfortunately, Shahrukh Khan could not accommodate this film and it went to Aamir Khan. 

Munnabhai M.B.B.S

     Sanjay Dutt starrer Munna Bhai M.B.B.S would have been totally different if Shahrukh Khan would have portrayed the Bhai role aspiring to be a doctor. Earlier, Sanjay Dutt was signed to play Zaheer’s part which eventually went to Jimmy Shergill. SRK refused the role citing back issues. 

    Ek Tha Tiger 

Kabir Khan thought of Shahrukh Khan to essay the Title role of Tiger as a suave RAW agent who falls for an ISI agent.  Though the film was destined to feature Salman Khan. SRK could not give his nod as his dates were clashing with Jab Tak Hai Jaan  

Lagaan 

     Ashutosh Gowarikar narrated Shahrukh Khan the script but the latter turned it down and instead suggested Aamir Khan’s name for Bhuvan.  Shahrukh missed out on playing the lead for this classic movie and Aamir walked away with the accolades.  The film is one of most respected. Aamir even turned producer for the first time with this production. 

    3 Idiots 

Vidhu Vinod Chopra had Shahrukh in mind for 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai and even Ferrari Ki Sawaari.  Notably, Aamir, Sanjay and Sharman have done their best films under Vidhu’s ace mentorship.

Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai 

      SRK didn’t seem to be very convinced with the Rohit and Raj double role offer by Rakesh Roshan. He eventually did the film with his son Hrithik who won all the love and praises for it. 

    Jodhaa Akbar 

     SRK did Swades with Ashutosh Gowariker, however he denied the role of  Akbar in Jodhaa Akbar , which the film-maker wanted to produce to recover the Swades losses. SRK was not in agreement to do a tough action sequence in a far-away locale and some reports say, he wanted to be around family.

However, SRK continues to rule our hearts and there is no denying that.  We are still in awe with the impeccable line-up of films he has been a part of.
