Director’s Special


Some films ride on the Director’s name and they immediately induce expectations among a viewer. Directors are then equivalent to the stars of the film and help pull in their fan-base into the  theaters.

Reveling in the stardom that some Director’s enjoy, we bring out the uniqueness which belongs to each of them.
   

       1.)   Karan Johar 


     Celebrated director Karan Johar, is an icon for many budding film-makers. He is multi-talented and applies his charm to many different jobs in the media, be it with his judging skills or impeccable anchoring.  He has worked in diametrically different professions  as an actor, fashion and jewelry designer.  He once stated that his films will always  be about human relationships, as they intrigue him the most. But do you know a special part he always has in his films.  It is the endearing presence of Kajol in all his directorial ventures.  Recall Rock N Roll Soniye in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Student of the year’s hit track ‘The Disco Song’, Maahi Ve in Kal Ho Na Ho. Apart from these special cameos, Karan Johar has always cast his favorite actress in lead roles in films like Kuch Kuch Hota, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, My Name Is Khan. Interestingly, Kajol is one among the many hit actresses from 90’s era, who continues to work as a lead actress even now.





 2.)   Sooraj Barjatya 

     The name says it all, the most amazing film-maker of our times has a distinct directorial quality of presenting films based on stories of families. Being a family man himself, Sooraj Barjatya has made numerous movies around the concept of marriage, relationships and respect for the elderly. His favorite character name remains to be ‘Prem’ and most fans associate this name with Superstar, Salman Khan. He once confessed his love for grand celebrations and family relationships come from his experience as a child.


 3.)   Rohit Shetty 

     This man had a flop debut with Zameen after which he took off to deliver only highly grossing films. His brand of films boast about action and comedy and sometimes a blend of both. His uniqueness lies in the fact that he uses Cars in every film of his. Not just using but blowing them up in the anti-gravitational format. When coaxed about this distinctiveness, Rohit Shetty, said he believed that children love cars and hence, he makes them an integral part of his films.


 4.)   Madhur Bhandarkar

     This man is known for his controversial entertainment related brand of movies. A keen observer of the industry and its dark underbelly, Madhur Bhandarkar presents films on Fashion, Films most realistically. He has ventured into different zones with Traffic Signal, Corporate, Chandni Bar but has retained his approach to show what goes behind the scenes in the real lives of his protagonists. He belives in casting powerful women as the lead in all his films.


 5.)   Subhash Ghai 

     The master of movies, Subhash Ghai started off as an actor initially and with Shatrungan Singha’s assistance turned director.  His brand of films will always have amazing music woven into the narrative. Be it Taal, Yuvraaj, Yaadien, Kisna, Pardes, Karz, Hero. Off-late the director has chosen A.R Rahman to make his music and even suggested the musician to use the words Jai Ho in his  renditions. The actor’s favorite cast is Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff who have done multiple films with him.  His recent venture, Kanchi starred newcomers in the lead, but failed to rake in business.






Thus, just by hearing a director’s name, we know exactly what experiences we shall be in for.
