 Films Rejected by Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is a highly successful actress, who mainly has been part of commercial massy films.  But little are we aware of the films she could have done, but rejected. Interestingly, most of her films would have been with Ranbir Kapoor, which eventually were taken up majorly by Deepika Padukone.

Here’s all you need to know :

       1.   Chennai Express

Katrina had to turn down Chennai Express as she was unconvinced to enact a South Indian native.  The meaty role was taken by her competitor, Deepika Padukone.

       2.   Bajirao Mastani

The biggest success of 2016, Bajirao Mastani was initially offered to Katrina Kaif.  She would have looked lovely as the brave warrior Mastani , but destiny got it back to Deepika Padukone.

      3.   Gunday

The first choice for Gunday’s lead was Katrina Kaif but citing date issues, the role went on to be played  by Priyanka Chopra

      4.    Barfi

Anurag Basu wanted Katrina Kaif to play Ranbir Kapoor’s love interest in the critically acclaimed film Barfi, as it needed a lovable yet glamorous character. The role was eventually played by debutante Ileana D’cruz

5.  Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani and Ramleela

Sanjay Leela Bhansali really wished to make Katrina Kaif a part of his cast, but things didn’t work out for them. Both diametrically different films were done by Deepika Padukone. Let’s hope we see Katrina playing an intriguing character with SLB soon.

6.  Rockstar

Apparently, Katrina was the first choice for Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar, but due to unavailability of dates, the role was given to newcomer Nargis Fakri.

Let’s hope Katrina doesn’t reject such gem of movies in the future. Tell us a film she should have really done.

Inspired Posters

Posters usually give out a Unique Selling Point of the film or an important aspect of the plot line. However, some designers seek references in Hollywood and go on to Indianize the poster designs.

Presenting a list of loosely inspired to completed ripped posters remade for Bollywood.

We found these exact replicas of posters.  Well, someday they may seek inspiration from our originality too.  We must add not all Hindi films stick to this formula for coming out with creative ideas.

Tell us your thoughts.

Films which could have had a different end.

Don’t we just hate climaxes of films, we could have sat through all our life. Or feel upset if the film’s end doesn’t satisfy us. We bring to you a list of films which could have had different endings.

 1.       Rockstar

A truly passionate film on love, musicians and a career in the music industry.  The belief which kept the film alive was to get your heart-broken once to be able to become a supreme singer and convey lyrics straight from the heart. When Jordan gets his heart-broken he does get to the top of his game but his lady love, Heer who marries an NRI suffers a deadly illness. She copes well with Jordan around her but the climax sees her getting pregnant with Jordan’s baby and therefore, losing her life. The end could have been a happier one.

      2.       Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

Salman Khan wished Sanjay Leela Bhansali would change the climax and make it in his favour too.   But the magnum opus maker did otherwise as shown.  So the leading lady Aishwariya, eventually fell in love with her husband, who she got married to forcibly.  But had they shown a flashback of Sameer and Nandini’s beautiful love story, may be the end could have been tweaked a bit.

       3.    Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Imagine if Simran would not have been allowed to board the train with Raj in the climax and would have to marry Kuljeet forcibly. We would have surely had an interesting sequel to this one. May be, a reconciliation between Raj and Simran after many years or Simran falling for Kuljeet’s love

 4.       Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu

We knew Rahul ( Imran Khan) and Riana ( Kareena Kapoor) accidentally marry each other after a drunken night. But we wish they had kept their marriage in the narrative, instead of annulling it.
Even the climax has Rahul confessing his feelings to Riana, but she only wished for a friendship. May be a nice sequel to this can follow. Hope you’re reading this Mr. Shakun Batra.

 5.       Hum Aapke Hai Koun

Guess if Nisha ( Madhuri) would have married her brother in law, Rajesh and never reveal her true feelings for Prem with everyone. A sequel of their adjusting marriage would have made for an interesting watch. The baby could have grown up to look just like Salman and Prem could have got himself another girl, just like Nisha.

Make up your interesting stories / endings and we’ll be happy to read them.

Bollywood Films which were miscast

We love watching films every week, in fact waiting for some of the films is quite exhilarating too.  Promotions and appearance do make the project hotter! But have you sat through a disappointment and felt that the actor was wrongly cast and hence, the excitement gets jaded. We bring to you a list of films which could have done away with a better star cast.

 Nimrat Kaur in Airlift

Considering a rich wife’s character who is against her husband’s attempts to rescue fellow Indians out of the Kuwait – Iraq War, albeit for some time in the film. She has a change of heart.  Nimrat just didn’t look like the part. May be a younger, spirited actress could have been cast or even a newcomer as Akshay Kumar became the face of the film, Airlift.

Vidya Balan in Shaadi Ke Side Effects

A happy married couple, Sid and Trisha, get pregnant with their first child and the problems surface as the husband is still not stable in his career.  Sid, selfishly adopts a bachelor lifestyle, avoiding his family commitments. Vidya Balan deals with her husband’s absence at home and even lies to him about her second pregnancy with the neighbor.  Vidya just didn’t seem apt for this role as it required a more ‘Woman of the house’ and a ‘new mother’ kind of a portrayal. May be, Anushka Sharma or Kangana Ranaut could have stepped in to her shoes.

      Katrina Kaif in Rajneeti

Inspired loosely after Draupadi / Gandhi family as the word went around about Indu’s character, Katrina could not do much to justify her part as the lady who gets into politics due to a family conspiracy.  May be, Vidya Balan or Rani Mukherjee could have worked better for the film.

       Imran Khan in Katti Batti

He is good in parts, but fails to convince us on a whole as the madly in love architect, Maddy. In fact, all actresses who were approached before Kangana, also requested Imran to be replaced.
We loved him the most in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Delhi Belly.

Tusshar Kapoor in The Dirty Picture

Tusshar Kapoor as Ramakanth was way too simple to do justice to the passionate love affairs of Silk. He looked like a complete mismatch between experienced performers.

Do you recollect another performance which could have had a different cast. Let us know.

Celebrity and Sports

We find it extremely impressive, when an actor does something different from films and the regular promotions.  When we witness a different side to them and marvel at their candidness.
Be it Social Work, Political Opinion or even supporting a cause or a game.  The other side to them opens up their complete personality for us.

More so, when actors show us their sporty side, it indicates their passion, lifestyle choices and even hobbies outside the sphere of films.

B4U brings to you a list of top notch actors who are involved in sports and cricketers who break their mold and explore more games.

 1.)    Shahrukh Khan

Remember when Shahrukh Khan nailed it as a Hockey Coach in Chak De India and even played football briefly in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, we sat back and totally believed him to be a sportsperson. Not forgetting his cool College boy character, who got baskets in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Shahrukh was one of the first few celebrities who understood the scope of cricket in India and bought a team in the famous series of Indian Premier League. KKR emerged winner in 2012 and 2014 tournaments and has the record of winning most T20s tournaments.

Interestingly, there are also called Blue Devils / Blue Citizens / Islanders. For now I have got my hands full with Mumbai City FC and my ambition for the club over the next five years is to make it the most professionally run club in Asia”. Let’s wait till Ranbir does a film on football.

 4.)    Virat Kohli

Virat is a true professional. As he knows the shelf life of a cricketer, he has planned his future with varied businesses in health, fashion and football. He owns a stake in FC Goa and represents his team most aptly.

     5.)    Sachin Tendulkar

The God of Cricket is doing exceedingly well even after his retirement. He owns Kerala Blasters, a football team in ISL, mentoring them rightfully.

      6.)    Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan surprised his admirers and won respect when he decided to associate and endorse Kabaddi. Presently, he owns Jaipur Pink Panthers in the Pro Kabaddi League. Being a sports lover, Abhishek proudly came on board and devotes his time in sports, when not acting. Interestingly, he is the only star who also co- owns a football team, Chenniyan FC in the ISL.

When Bollywood Meets Hollywood

Aren’t we just in awe of some of the films we see. And often wonder about how the makers thought about a concept so unusual yet entertaining. Well, we have answers to such doubts as B4U presents a list of Bollywood flicks which have partially or fully been copied / inspired by their Hollywood counterparts.

So here we go:

 Chachi 420 and Mrs.Doubtfire

1997 Chachi 420 is majorly taken after the 1993 American Comedy Mrs. Doubtfire. Both the plots have an ongoing divorce at the core, for which the father disguises into an aged domestic help in order to win over his family.  While, the Hollywood flick had Robin Williams in the lead, its Indian counterpart had superstar Kamal Hassan. Interestingly, the film was first made in Tamil with the title, Avvai Shanmughi and also marked the debut of Kamal Hassan as a director.

Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic  and Mary Poppins

2008 Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic is inspired by 1964  American Fantasy Film Mary Poppins. The plots see a fairy descend on earth to take care of young kids, who’ve lost their parents in an accident and are now being parented by a rich businessman. The fairy disciplines them with love and care. Interestingly, Kunal Kohli loves the pairing of Saif & Rani and has repeated them in his films.

  Ghajini & Memento

2008 Hindi blockbuster Ghajini was loosely based on 2000 American Neo Noir Film Memento. Here, the protagonist uses a polaroid camera to capture images and interactions he has had with people as a solution to his short term memory loss to avenge the death of this beloved. The Hindi counterpart saw a beautiful romantic track running in parallel to the gritty thriller.  Interestingly, this film was marketed to be a remake of 2005 Tamil Film of the same name. Aamir decided to cast Asin ( From the Tamil Ghajini) as he thought she would be apt even in the Hindi version.

Hum Tum & When Harry Met Sally

2004 Hum Tum is inspired by 1989’s romantic comedy film, When Harry Met Sally. Both the films show a time jump and see the protagonists’ relationships changing each time they meet. A bittersweet take on a woman-man’s tryst at different stages of their lives.  Rani and Saif were the perfect choices for the Indian Harry & Sally.

  Aitraaz  and Disclosure

2004 Aitraaz was hugely inspired from 1994 erotic thriller erotic.  Both stories have the same backdrop of a telecommunication company and how corporate politics and an alleged sexual harassment charge, initiated by an ex lover and present boss, becomes the nightmare for the male lead of the film. Interestingly, this film was made by thriller specialist Abbas Mustan and produced by Subhash Ghai.

Waiting for a time when Hollywood too tries to ape us.

Tell us your thoughts.

Top Hindi Films based on Dance

There is a psychological fact which says when you watch a person dance, your mind tricks you into believing that you’re the person dancing. With such a personalized approach, many a dance films have done supremely well at the box office. Let’s take a quick look at some of the most impactful.

Aaja Nachle

Starting with the Queen of Dance, Madhuri Dixit who made her grand comeback with the YRF Film. In the plot, she returns from the States in order to save her dance school from being demolished. She even arranges for a dance show to gather all the people, in support of her agenda. This film was highly entertaining with a lovable track between Kunal Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

A truly feel good film starring Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. This story is about a wife’s love for a typical hero-like husband and Shahrukh’s attempts to become like her desired husband, for which he take up dance. They even compete together in the climax, and the wife till the end doesn’t realize it’s her husband performing alongside her. We fell in love with the plot’s simplicity.

Dil Toh Pagal Hai

A pure dance film starring Shahrukh Khan, Karishma Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in the leads. This story is about a dance troupe and their upcoming show Maya. When their lead dancer Karishma meets with an injury, she is replaced by a classical dancer Madhuri. A love triangle blooms and unfolds in the end. We loved the jugal -bandi scene between Madhuri and Karishma. One of the best of its times.

Naach

A young couple is striving to make their name in the Hindi Film Industry. While he gets a chance to work as an actor, she struggles. Many years after their break up they land in a project together. Naach showed some really good dance skills by the female lead and its title track was an absolute win!

ABCD 2

A  fun dance film, where in the protagonists wish to win the grand dance competition in Las Vegas with the help of ace master Vishnu Sir. ABCD 2 sure set a new raised benchmark for Dance films in India. Also, Shraddha Kapoor danced like a dream alongside talented Varun. The icing on the cake was with the beautiful moves of Lauren Gottlieb
